I am in my body and you are in yours.

i am in my body and you are in yours is a scenographic installation created to inspire and ground an audience in a multi-sensory, artificially organic, plush setting. This work was inspired by children’s science museums, pillow forts, and sensory rooms, and aims to provide a relaxing, inspiring environment for a busy patron to ground themselves within their bodies while physically being a part of something much larger than themselves. Within the tent itself, each plush organ was designed and sewn by a different textile artist- as this piece was created not only with the goal of giving a busy audience a opportunity to connect to themselves within a creative space, but to showcase, celebrate, and connect scenographic designers who so often work in isolation within this department. So, while we are each in our own separate bodies, on our own unique paths, it’s vital to make time to check in with ourselves and confront our own ideals of individualism in a world so often lacking community. I’m in my body, you’re in yours, but we’re actually both in this one, at the moment. So listen to the music, take a deep breath, and use a red blood cell as a pillow. Let’s just be here together.
